# Tonnes to Kilotonnes Conversion Table

 t  =  0.001 kt

# How to convert from Tonnes to Kilotonnes

Since 1 tonne is equal to 0.001 kilotonnes, we could say that n tonnes are equal to 0.001 times n kilotonnes. In other words, we could use the following formula:

kilotonnes = tonnes x 0.001

For example, let's say that we want to convert 2.0 tonnes to kilotonnes. Then, we just replace tonnes in the abovementioned formula with 2.0:

kilotonnes = 2.0 x 0.001

That is, 2.0 tonnes are equal to 0.002 kilotonnes.
